The useful difference

Levoit adds app control. Coway offers onboard Auto and Eco modes. Their published room sizes at 4.8 air changes per hour are very close, so controls, placement and filter upkeep deserve more attention than a tiny size difference.

Compare on equal terms

Manufacturer specifications, not our measured performance. Air changes per hour (ACH) describes how often a room-sized volume of air is processed.

Do not compare the biggest coverage numbers

A claim based on one air change an hour is not equivalent to one based on 4.8 changes. Use the same basis, check ceiling-height assumptions and account for connected spaces. Published coverage is not a guarantee of real-room performance.

Choose around everyday use

  • Controls: decide whether phone access matters or you prefer controls on the unit.
  • Placement: leave the clearance required by the manual; do not hide the intake behind furniture.
  • Running cost: compare genuine replacement-filter prices, replacement guidance and power use at the settings you expect to use.
  • Noise: do not treat a minimum sleep-mode noise claim as the sound level at maximum cleaning output.

What this comparison cannot promise

Neither model is a substitute for addressing pollutant sources and appropriate ventilation. EPA explains the role and limits of portable filtration. We do not claim either machine treats a medical condition, solves moisture problems or removes every pollutant.

We have not measured cleaning speed, noise or long-term reliability. The three-square-foot difference above is too small to justify declaring a room-coverage winner.
